Deuda competition on ending child marriage

At this time where modernization takes place and our old ancestral folk songs and instruments have been left out only in the books and history the villages of Simkot Gaonpalika-5 and 6 in Simkot have taken an initiation to preserve our rich culture and history with a motive of public awareness to the community.

A public awareness campaign on ending child marriage has been organized on the occasion of 112th International Women's Day. The Nepal-Austria Partnership, which has been working in the field of women and children for a long time, has conducted deuda competition in the villages of Simkot Gaonpalika-5 and 6 in Simkot, the district headquarters of Humla. On Sunday, Deuda song competition was held in Ward 6 Upper Village and on Monday in Lower Village.

     Dichin Dolkar Lama of the same organization said that the Deuda Song Competition was organized to end child marriage, violence against women and domestic violence in the district including the district headquarters Simkot. In the Deuda competition held at one-day intervals, 10 women's teams from Ward No. 6 Upper Village participated and 10 women's teams from Ward No. 5 also participated on Monday.

     According to Dichin Dolkar Lama, organizer and Nepal Austria Partnership, the winners of the first three streams of women's group, Kalashilta women's group and Chandnath women's group were the winners in the first three out of 10 women's teams of ward 6. In the competition held in ward five on Monday, the first Shiva temple women's group, the second sunflower women's group and the third five-faced women's group were the winners, said Lama.

    The winning group was awarded Rs 4,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,500 respectively
