The Darchula District Administration Office has urged the Indian authorities to provide information on the incident in which Jay Singh Dhami fell off the tuin into Mahakali River and went missing.

The DAO has also asked the Indian authorities to initiate action after the investigation.

In a statement issued by the DAO, Chief District Officer (CDO) Jyotsna Bhatta (Joshi) said her attention was drawn to the media report that Jay Singh Dhami (33) of Mal in Vyans Rural Municipality-2 in the district went missing by falling into the river after Indian SSB cut the wire on Friday. She said a letter has been sent to her Indian counterpart inquiring about the details of the incident. It has been reported that Singh and some others were crossing the Mahakali River from Khangdang Malghat in Vyans -2 when the incident occurred. They intended to cross the river to India and then gain access to the District headquarters Khalanga from there.

The statement has appealed to all sides not to disseminate false reports, which it argued, would sour the relations between the two countries as the incident is being investigated.

The statement has said a joint team of the Armed Police Force, Nepal Battalion no. 44 Darchula, District Police Office, and employees of National Investigation Office have been dispatched to the incident site for the investigation.

The investigation reports prepared by the team will be made public, the statement read.
