Committee set up to look into helicopter crash

The government has formed a committee to look into Manang Air helicopter crash that occurred on Tuesday in Solukhumbu district.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers convened at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar on Tuesday expressed sorrow over the crash and decided to form a committee to probe it.

Six people-five Mexicans and a Nepali pilot-were onboard the helicopter that crashed at Lamjura Pass of Likhupike rural municipality-5 in the district.

The helicopter belonging to Manang Air with call sign 9 NA-MV had flown from Surke in Solukhumbu to Kathmandu on Tuesday morning. It went incommunicado after 10:01 am and later found crashed.

The Investigation Committee is led by Buddisagar Lamichhane, Joint-Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, shared Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma.

Minister Sharma, also Spokesperson of the government, shared, "The helicopter carrying Mexican nationals and flown by a Nepali pilot has met with an accident. The Council of Ministers has extended heartfelt tributes to all the deceased in the accident and formed an investigation committee."
