CIAA registers case against seven for irregularities in livestock market

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a case at the Special Court today against seven persons on the charge of irregularities in the construction of a livestock market in Terhathum District.

The anti-graft body filed the case against Programme Director at the Livestock Market Directorate under the Department of Livestock Services Balaram Thapa Kshettri, account officer Ram Prasad Bajagain, senior veterinary Purja Sharma, Kirat Yakthum Chumlung Agriculture Cooperatives Limited's chairperson Ganesh Prasad Limbu.

Similarly, the case was registered against manager Tejman Kandangwa and treasurer Ganesh Bahadur Sodemba for embezzlement of the fund while constructing livestock market at Jireikhimti Maajgaun of Myanglung Municipality-10, said CIAA spokesperson Shyam Prasad Adhikari.

Likewise, Roshan Bhattarai, proprietor of Consultant Company, has been charged for the same. The group allegedly misappropriated over Rs 4.7 million in cahoots with each other, informed spokesperson Adhikari.

Meanwhile, the CIAA registered the case at the Special Court against the erstwhile secretary of the village development committee at Salempur in the Sarlahi district. The CIAA demanded Rs 771,000 in fine from Dhruba Narayan Jha.

Also, cases of irregularities were filed against Ram Bacchan Prasad, head teacher of Ram Janaki Nepal National Primary School, and chairperson of the school Management Committee Kanhaiya Shah Kanu as well as committee member Ram Shah.

They were charged for misappropriating over Rs 1.1 million received by the School in Parsa district under various headings, Adhikari added.
