Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said working for the cause of social justice and social transformation by dismantling corruption nexus and greed for commissions is the need of the hour in the country.

Addressing the annual general assembly of Press Centre Nepal Bagmati Province in Dhulikhel on Saturday, DPM Shrestha said that the twin tasks of social and economic transformations could be expedited only if the maze of corruption was ruptured.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that corruption control and establishment of good-governance should be made the prerequisite for prosperity. "Every corrupt person must be punished to maintain good-governance. This should be controlled effectively and the nation should be freed from the commission seeking," according to DPM Shrestha, who is also the senior-vice of the CPN (Maoist Centre).

In the context of fake Bhutanese refugee scam, Shrestha vowed to book the culprits involved in this entire episode to making Nepalis stateless and sending them abroad in the guise of refugees for esurience of money.

He stated that the government's lone target is to maintain good-governance, prosperity and social justice. The government is working with the notion that 'no innocent is booked and no criminal is spared'. The Home Minister observed that the relevance of the political transformation could not be justified and safeguarded if positive results were not given for the country and people nor the communist movement could safeguard its existence and develop further.

According to Shrestha, the political party should be robust to ensure the government's delivery further effective and called for ending ideological and cultural deviations in the communist movement. Party's entire strength should be used for making the government effective and the parliamentary party should also offer a boost in it, he argued.

The government should be advanced with a huge public support and the media should also pay attention in making the government a success, according to Shrestha.

Also speaking at the event, Internal Affairs and Law Minister of Bagmati Province Ganga Narayan Shrestha said the province government was working to expand the concept of information bank to ensure information to the grassroots people.

Similarly, House of Representatives (HoR) Member Surya Man Dong said that the ongoing movement waged by the government against corruption should not be brought to an end at any cost since the party and citizens have a firm support on this move of the government. HoR Member Dong asked the media sector to play a constructive role in controlling corruption.

Likewise, in-charge of Press Centre Nepal Maheshwor Dahal said that the journalists affiliated to the Press Centre Nepal should raise the public voice through civic journalism since the organization is the spokesperson of the oppressed community by bringing to light their voices.

During the event, Press Registrar of Bagmati Province Rewati Sapkota, Vice-Chairman of Press Centre Nepal Nirmal Gyawali, Secretary Sunil Khadka, General Secretary of Federation of Nepali Journalists Bagmati Province Krishna Sarumagar and others shed lights on the role of media sector in the changed context.
