As many as 94 people have died and 44 others have gone missing till today after the start of monsoon this year, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) confirmed.
Almost 6,000 people were shifted to safer places after the disasters this year, according to NDRRMA Spokesperson Bishow Prakash Aryal.
Nearly 800 houses were completely damaged while 25 hydropower projects, 29 motorable bridges, and 29 suspension bridges were damaged after the flooding, landslides, and inundation caused by the heavy rainfall in different districts of the country.
For this monsoon season, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology had forecasted more rain than the average.
Unlike in the past, heavy rain occurred in the districts of central Tarai this year. However, torrential rain is occurring across the country for the past three days, inundating thousands of houses in the districts of Lumbini Province and other provinces too. So far, around 4,000 houses were inundated in the past three days, according to the police reports.
Likewise, nine persons lost their lives while six others went missing in the recent incidents of flooding, landslide, and inundation, said NDRRMA Spokesperson Aryal.
Rainfall to continue till Monday: DHM
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecasted that rainfall was likely until Monday, adding that the weather would improve gradually from Tuesday.
Meteorologist Samir Shrestha said that the districts of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces are witnessing rain today while the western part of the country will see heavy rain tonight.
In the past 24 hours, Kapilvastu recorded the maximum rainfall with 182 mm while Chitwan, Palpa, and Nawalparasi also received heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Authority on Sunday organised a coordination meeting with the representatives of development partners to mitigate losses in the society from the disasters.
