Of the 1,547 candidates registered for 507 local people's representatives in five municipalities and six villages, 92 withdrew their candidacies. According to the election schedule, a total of 92 candidates including Chief / Chairperson, Deputy Chief / Vice-Chairperson, Ward Chairperson and Ward Member withdrew their candidacies till 5 pm on Friday, said Chief Election Officer Basanta Raj Poudel. There are 14 candidates for the post of chief / chairman, three for the post of deputy chief / vice-chairman, 20 for the post of ward chairman and 55 for open, women and dalit members. According to Waling Nagar Election Officer Udbir Nepali, a total of 22 candidates withdrew their candidacies, including two in Waling Nagar Chief, one in Deputy Chief, six in Ward Chairman and 13 in Member.
Similarly, three
candidates withdrew their candidacies for the post of Putlibazar mayor, six for ward chairman and nine for other members, one for Galyang mayor, two for ward chairman and four for women. It is stated that 11 people including two in Chapakot mayor, one in deputy mayor, two in four members, one in Bhirkot mayor, one in deputy mayor, three in ward chairman and six in member have withdrawn.
Seven candidates withdrew their candidacies for the post of chairman of Andhikhola village municipality, one for ward chairman, two for open members and two for women members, while one open member of RPP withdrew his candidature in Biruwa village municipality.
Three candidates withdrew their candidacies for the post of Fedikhola village chairman and two for the post of ward chairman. Three candidates including one woman and one man have withdrawn their candidacies for the post of chairman of Arjunchaupari village municipality. In Kaligandaki and Harinash villages of the district, no candidate has withdrawn his candidature.
