Preparations have been made to blacktop 80 kilometers of roads in Kailali and Kanchanpur under the Constituency Strategic Road Development Program.

According to the Road Division Mahendranagar, ten kilometers of roads will be blacktopped in each constituency under the program in the House of Representatives constituency here.

Chief of the Road Division, Mahendranagar, Narendra Bhatta informed that the federal government has allocated Rs. 250 million for the construction of ten kilometers of roads in each constituency.

He said that the contract for the construction of roads in three constituencies of Kanchanpur and five constituencies of Kailali has already started in the current fiscal year. "As the environmental impact assessment work on the road from Chaumala to Garbha Durbar in Kailali is still pending, the program in that constituency will be delayed," said Bhatta, head of the road division in Mahendranagar. The construction period will be two years.

Similarly, construction of roads, bridges and other infrastructures has been in full swing in Kailali and Kanchanpur in recent years. Currently, 22 concrete bridges are under construction in Kanchanpur and Kailali under Road Division Mahendranagar. "Most of the 22 bridges being constructed, big and small, will be completed in this fiscal year," said Bhatta.

Road Division Mahendranagar has also given continuity to the regular, paved and periodic maintenance of East-West Mahendra Highway. According to Bhatta, the office has been repairing, protecting and improving the highway from Gadda Chowki in Kanchanpur to Chisapani in Kailali.
