79 new cases of coronavirus reported on Saturday

Nepal's COVID-19 tally hits 275,829

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Saturday reported 79 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 275,829.

Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley has reported 58 new cases of coronavirus infection — 42 in Kathmandu, 15 in Lalitpur and one in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours.

As many as 82 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 271,815 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Saturday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.5 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.

The death toll from COVID-19 has remained at 3,016 since no death has been reported from the respiratory contagion in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 998 active cases in Nepal.

Earlier, the MoHP on Friday reported 125 new cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 275,750.

More than 122.34 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,828,303 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:04 pm on Saturday, March 20, 2021.

The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
