490 new cases of coronavirus reported on Thursday

Nepal's COVID tally hits 282,054

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Thursday reported 490 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 282, 054.

Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 196 new cases of coronavirus infection — 145 in Kathmandu, 43 in Lalitpur and eight in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 112 males and 84 females have been reported to have contracted the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

As many as 157 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 274,604 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Thursday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 97.5 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.

The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,066 with the report of five more deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 4,384 active cases in Nepal.

Earlier, the MoHP on Wednesday had reported 580 new cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 281,564.

As of Thursday, a total of 2,329,547 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 4,384 persons staying in isolation while 68 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.

More than 137.45 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,098,177 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a tally showed as of 4:28 pm, on Thursday, April 15, 2021.

The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
