3,842 vehicles held for defying prohibitory order across country on Friday

Police have held 3,842 vehicles for defying the prohibitory order across the country in the past 24 hours.

Of the total vehicles, 1,002 were four-wheeler vehicles and 2,840 were two-wheelers. The vehicles are set free after inquiring the vehicle drivers and bike riders, according to police.

Likewise, police have also distributed masks to 472 persons through the programme — Where is your mask? The programme has been initiated by police to raise public awareness and prevention of coronavirus infection including the new variants. A total of 455,207 persons have received the masks as of Friday, police informed.

Likewise, 650 persons have been fined Rs 66,100 for defying the prohibitory order issued by the District Administration office to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 infection as per COVID-19 Crisis Management Ordinance, 2078. Likewise, 4,976 others held by the security personnel for defying the order were freed in 24 hours after reprimanding them and warning them not to repeat the offence again.

According to police, 4,194 persons have been cautioned through awareness programmes including 80 microphones, placard display, pamphlet distribution.

Meanwhile, police have also heightened the monitoring in coordination with stakeholders and various bodies concerned to effectively implement the prohibitory order.
