156 new cases of coronavirus reported on Friday

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Friday reported 156 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 276,665.

Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley has reported 66 new cases of coronavirus infection — 55 in Kathmandu, nine in Lalitpur and two in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 42 males and 24 females have been reported to be detected with the coronavirus infection in the valley.

As many as 70 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 272,342 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Friday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.4 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.

The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,024 with four more deaths reported in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 1,299 active cases in Nepal.

Earlier, the MoHP on Thursday had reported 120 new cases of coronavirus that had taken nationwide tally to 276,509.

More than 125.55 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,883,301 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:46 pm on Friday, March 26, 2021.

The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
