Fifteen former Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGPs) have urged Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to not implement the decision of the previous government to shift the National Police Academy.
Submitting a memorandum to the PM on Wednesday, the former IGPs argued that shifting Nepal Police Academy for the expansion of the Office of the President would wipe out the history of the museum of Nepal Police and the base of Nepal Police's organizational development. So, the decision must be corrected, they stressed.
The former IGPs to submit the memorandum were Durlav Kumar Thapa, Motilal Bohora, Achyut Krishna Kharel, Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, Pradip Shumsher Rana, Shyam Bhakta Thapa, Om Bikram Rana, Hem Bahadur Gurung, Ramesh Chand Thakuri, Rabindra Pratap Shah, Kuber Sing Rana, Upendra Kant Aryal, Prakash Aryal, Sarbhendra Khanal and Thakur Prasada Gyawali.
The previous government had decided to shift the Police Academy located at Maharajgunj in order to expand the Office of the president by acquiring 114 ropani and 3 ana of land occupied by the Academy.
