1096 more individuals test positive for COVID-19

A total of 1,096 more individuals have tested coronavirus positive in the last 24 hours in the country.

The spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, said that such a number of coronavirus cases was confirmed while carrying out 5,084 RT-PCR tests and 699 antigen tests.

Out of 5,084 PCR tests, altogether 1,015 people tested positive(as per the Mohp website) while 81 tested positive in course of carrying out 699 antigen tests.

According to the Ministry, Kathmandu valley recorded 435 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Of them, 326 in Kathmandu, 64 in Lalitpur, and 45 in Bhaktapur were reported. With this, the reported active cases of coronavirus reached 6,290 across the nation.

Earlier, the MoHP had reported 768 cases of coronavirus on Saturday.

Likewise, 262 infected people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. According to the Ministry, eight more COVID-19 related fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours and the death toll reached 3,083.

A total of 475 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Bagmati Province, 84 in Gandaki, 272 in Lumbini, 60 in Province 1, 70 in Province 2, 23 in Sudurpaschim, and 31 in Karnali province in the last 24 hours.

Similarly, 116 people infected with the virus are receiving treatment at ICU.

More than 140.65 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,148,000 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a global statistics showed as of 8:15 pm, on Sunday, April 18, 2021.
