1,667 new cases of coronavirus reported on Tuesday

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Tuesday reported 1,667 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 287,567.

Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 690 new cases of coronavirus infection — 550 in Kathmandu, 105 in Lalitpur and 35 in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 410 males and 280 females have been reported to have contracted the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

As many as 251 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 275,806 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Tuesday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 95.9 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.

The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,102 with the report of 11 more death from COVID-19 three of which occurred in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 8,659 active cases in Nepal.

Earlier, the MoHP on Monday had reported 1,227 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 285,900.

As of Tuesday, a total of 2,360,557 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 8,659 persons staying in isolation while 92 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.

More than 142.16 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,169,689 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a tally showed as of 3:21 pm, on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
