Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa, a senior tourism entrepreneur who succeeded in climbing the highest mountains of seven continents of the world, was warmly welcomed in Kathmandu today.
He came to Kathmandu today from the base camp after successfully climbing the world's highest peak, Mount Everest.
Before coming to Kathmandu, he was also felicitated at Lukla in Solukhumbu.
Climber Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa was welcomed by people gathered at the domestic airport of Tribhuvan International Airport. President of Nepal Mountaineering Association Nimanuru Sherpa and other officials, Juving Kiduk of Solukhumbu, and various organizations and other dignitaries welcomed him.
Sherpa instruments and dances were also performed there.
A victory rally with climber Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa and members of his climbing team proceeded from the airport to the Yeti Airlines head office at Tilganga. There the victorious climbers were welcomed according to Sherpa tradition.
On that occasion, Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa cut the cake.
Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa reached the summit of Everest at 7:34 am on Wednesday.
After the 2015 earthquake, he had prepared to climb the Seven Summits.
He left for Everest from Kathmandu on April 17. Along with Sonam Sherpa, the climbing team consisted of Zangbu Sherpa, Pemtengi Sherpa, Pemba Sherpa, and Robert Morachini from France.
Along with climbing Everest, Lakpa Sonam Sherpa has successfully climbed all the highest mountains of the seven continents of the world.
He has previously climbed Mount Vinson in Antarctica, Mount Puncock/Mount Karstenz in Oceania, Mount Elbrus in Europe, Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Denali in North America, and Mount Aconcagua in South America.
63-year-old Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa is the husband of the late Pasanglhamu Sherpa, the first Nepalese woman to climb Mount Everest.
Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa, the founder of Nepal's prestigious Thamserku Trekking Company, has been involved with the tourism sector for the past 50 years. He is the Executive Chairman of Yeti Airlines and Tara Airlines. He is also involved in the hotel and hydroelectric business.
