Guinness World Records has awarded Nepali mountaineer Kami Rita Sherpa, who has been climbing since 1994, with two world records. He has been awarded the world record for climbing mountains of altitude above 8000 meters 39 times. He has reached the summit of Mount Everest 26 times, most recently on May 7 and has earned a world record certificate.
Last year, he was awarded with a world record certificate for climbing Everest 25 times and climbing 8000ers 38 times.
On the other hand, Apa Sherpa, climbing Everest 21 times, had earned the certificate. At the present he has climbed Everest 22 times.
In 2019, Kami Rita had managed to climb Mt. Everest twice in the same season. He then ascended Mt. Everest in 2020 and 2021 as well.
Kami, 52, is a resident of Thame in Solukhumbu. He was the first to reach the summit this spring while fixing ropes for climbers.
His brother Lakpa Rita, also a guide, scaled Everest 17 times.
