Manang: A popular place to visit

It has been found that when foreign tourists come to Nepal, they especially make Manang their main destination. Manang is considered a famous destination in the country for observing natural foods, natural lifestyle, and beautiful environment.

Foreign tourists, especially when they come with a tour schedule to Nepal, make Manang their main list of visits. They come here with the aim of observing the Himalayan region and enjoying the panoramic view through the highest Tilicho Lake and Thorangla Pass. Manang is considered as the main destination for tourists who like adventure sports.

In the previous two years, the arrival of tourists came to a standstill due to the infection of Covid. In the last financial year, the number of foreign tourists in the Himalayan district of Manang has increased after the infection of Kovid slowed down a bit. Statistics show that there is an increase in foreign tourists coming to Manang in the financial year 2078-79 compared to the year 2077-78.

During this period, out of a total of 285 thousand 363 foreign tourists entering Nepal, only 7 thousand 20 tourists entered Manang. Head of Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Lekhnath Gautam informed that in the financial year 2078-79, a total of 7,200 foreign tourists entered Manang, including 4,749 men and 2,270 women. According to him, more foreign tourists entered Manang in October, March and April last year.

This data has been collected on the basis of obtaining permission to enter the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Tourist Check Center Dharapani. Two in July of the year 2078-79, 20 in August, 322 in October, 1,15 in October, 366 in November, 86 in January, 51 in January, 528 in February, 2,47 in Chait, 1,936 in May, 485 in June and It is mentioned in the statistics that 162 tourists have entered. "When foreign tourists enter the district, the income of the district also increases. Foreign tourists are not allowed to enter without a permit, while statistics of domestic tourists are not kept. Even if there is no fee, there should be an arrangement to keep the data", he says.

According to ACAP, a total of six hundred and three foreign tourists entered Manang due to the covid infection in the year 2077-78. Most tourists from SAARC countries have entered the district. Due to the problem of vehicle traffic during the rainy season, the footpath is still deserted when the number of tourists decreases. According to ACAP, citizens of France, Germany, Italy and other countries visit Manang the most. Now after the end of the rainy season, the number of tourists will start to increase from the 15th of Bhadra.

Tourists visit the Himalayas, mountain views, high mountains, customs and natural beauty of Manang and reach Mustang from Manang through Thorangla Pass. The entrance of the Annapurna footpath is at Lamjung Bensisahar Municipality-7 Manange Chautara. Five districts including Lamjung, Kaski, Manang, Mustang and Myagdi are connected to the Annapurna trail. Tourists come by vehicle from Kathmandu to Benisahar and start their journey on foot with a view of various places in Manang.
