Lama treks from Kathmandu to Mt Everest peak

Kathmandu, June 4: Mountaineer Rajesh Lama has successfully trekked to the summit of the Mount Everest from Kathmandu.

He completed his expedition to the Mount Everest on 57th day after he embarked on the journey. Lama who started walking from Kathmandu on last April 1 has successfully reached atop the world's highest peak after completing the 432.6-km-long journey.

Sharing his mountaineering experience at a press conference here today, Lama said the odyssey was made possible due to strong determination and courage.

He further said the journey from Kathmandu to Mount Everest summit on foot was an example imparting a message that significant achievements can be obtained in life with the will power and resolution.

Lama further shared that he would remain active in adventurous activities in coming days.

A resident of Lalitpur, Lama who had commenced his trekking from Sanepa had reached Lukla in 15 days and Everest base camp in 24 days. He had scaled the Mount Everest on May 20. Lama having a decade-long experience in tourism sector is also a professional mountain guide.

'The North Face' company had extended necessary support to Lama in course of scaling the Mount Everest.

On the occasion, senior tourism entrepreneur and former chairperson of Nepal Mountaineering Association Angchhiring Sherpa said lama's expedition to the Mount Everest was a new dimension for mountaineering tourism of Nepal.

International mountain guide Dawa Yangjum Sherpa termed Lama's adventurous journey an inspiration for mountaineering.
