Bhaktapur becoming a tourist destination

There has been a significant increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Bhaktapur. As a result, the traffic of tourists in Bhaktapur city is increasing day by day.

In the financial year 2079/80, 1 lakh 67 thousand 652 foreign tourists visited Bhaktapur. Among them, there are 86 thousand 334 people (non-SAARC) and 81 thousand 318 people (tourists from SAARC countries and China). In the same financial year, more than 184 million rupees have been collected from tourism fees. In which, more than 143.4 million tourism fees have been collected from non-SAARC tourists and 46.6 million tourists from SAARC countries and China.

If we look at the data of the financial year 2078/79, a total of 53 thousand 560 tourists visited Bhaktapur during one year.

Bhaktapur municipality has charged non-SAARC tourists Rs. 1500 to Rs. 1800 fee have been collected. Also SAARC and Chinese tourists Rs. 500 fee has been collected.

Bhaktapur municipality is currently collecting tourism fees from foreign tourists entering the city from 14 counters. Tourists who enter Bhaktapur without paying the fee are immediately arrested and forced to pay the fee.

Bhaktapur Municipality has been providing a tourist information centre, tourist bus park, tourist toilets, brochures with maps in 6 languages, computer facility with free internet, wheelchair for disabled tourists, luggage storage room, mobile charging facility, newspaper and sitting facility for tourists through tourist information centre.

Bhaktapur Municipality has completed the reconstruction and restoration work of more than 34 properties and the reconstruction and restoration work of dozens of properties is in progress.
