World record holder Nepalese Climber Phunjo Lama awarded with 5 thousand euros

 Nepalese female Climber Phunjo Zhangmu Lama, who managed to set a new world record by reaching the summit of Mount Everest from the base camp in 14 hours and 31 minutes, has been awarded 5,000 Euros.

The amount provided by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation FIS was awarded to Summiter Phunjo Lama by Jeevan Ram Shrestha, President of Nepal Olympic Committee who is also the President of Nepal Ski Association and former Minister.

 On the 100 years since the establishment of FIS, Phunjo Lama carried the flag of FIS and Nepal Ski Association to the summit of Mt.Everest. Phunjo Lama is also a member of the Nepal Ski Association. She has been skiing since 2015.

President Shrestha handed over the flag taken to Mt. Everest by Phunjo Lama at the FIS congress in Iceland.

Phunjo from Gorkha set a new world record for the fastest female climber from the base camp to the summit of Mount Everest this spring.

She set a world record by climbing Mount Everest in 14 hours and 31 minutes.

Earlier in 2018, Phunjo set a world record by reaching the summit of Mount Everest in 39 hours and 6 minutes.

In 2021, Hong Kong's Tsang Yin Hung climbed Mount Everest in 25 hours and 50 minutes.

Mountain guide Phunjo has climbed mountains such as Choyu, Amadablam, Manaslu, Denali, etc.

Phunjo has also been working as a lifeline rescuer who rescues those who have had an accident in the mountains by hanging on to a helicopter.

In the ceremony, President Shrestha said that in the past the Nepalese who are abroad represented Nepal in the international competitions of ski sports. Currently, the Nepal Ski Association has organized various competitions of ski sports and Nepalese Players already participated in the Youth Olympics, Asian Games, and other international events. He said that the effect of global warming is a challenge for ski sports in Nepal.

Summiter Phunjo Lama said She is committed to developing ski sports in Nepal in the coming days.

At the ceremony, Bishnugopal Shrestha, Chairman of the Sports for All Commission, and Nilendra Raj Shrestha, Secretary General of the Nepal Olympic Committee informed that various programs have been organized throughout Nepal to spread the message of World Olympic Day widely.
