Seven sportsmen have been honored with the 'Our Sports Everlasting Honor' for their contribution in the field of sports.
Runners Jeet Bahadur KC and runner Vaikunth Manandhar, football's Rajukaji Shakya, Olympian Taekwondo's Sangina Vaidya, Taekwondo's Deepak Bisht, cricket's ex-captain Paras Khadka and swimming's Gaurika Singh Sarvakalani were honored at an event organized here today on the occasion of our sports.com's seventh anniversary. Jeet Bahadur KC (Athletics)
KC won the bronze medal in the Asian Athletics Championship almost five decades ago. In the marathon of the championship held in the Philippines, Casey finished in 2 hours 35 minutes 38 seconds and secured the third place. That is Nepal's first international medal won by him.
Vaikunth Manandhar (Athletics)
Started in 1984, Manandhar won the gold medal in the marathon in three consecutive editions. He is the first Nepali to score a hat-trick of gold medals in Saag. In 1987, he set a record in the third marathon. His record of 2 hours 15 minutes 03 seconds at that time has not been broken yet.
Rajukaji Shakya (Football)
Shakya was an important member of the team when the first edition of SAAG won gold in 1984 and the sixth in 1993 for football. He was the captain of the team when Nepali football won gold in the sixth edition. As a coach, he led the under-23 football team to gold in the 12th edition of SAAG held in India in 2016.
Sangina Vaidya (Taekwondo)
Even though Nepalese athletes started participating in the World Games Mahakumbh Olympics since 1960, Sangina passed the qualifying stage for the 2004 Athens Olympics. He won the gold medal in the 1999 eighth and 2004 ninth SAG held in the country. He is also the Asian Taekwondo Champion.
Deepak Bishta (Taekwondo)
Deepak had won gold in taekwondo in four consecutive editions since the 8th SAG held in his country in 1999. He also won bronze in Asian Games in 2002 and 2006. He also played in the 2008 Beijing Olympics as the second athlete to participate in the Olympics after passing the qualifying stage.
Paras Khadka (cricket)
Paras is a successful captain and player in Nepali cricket history. Paras was the captain of the team in both the only T20 World Cup that Nepal has played in 2014 or when it received ODI recognition in 2018.
Under his leadership, Nepal won the first International Cricket Council (ICC) title, division five, division four and division three.
Gaurika Singh (Swimming)
Gaurika won nine medals including four gold medals in the 13th SAG held in Nepal three years ago. He became the first Nepali athlete to win gold in the individual competition in green swimming.
