Many scientists in different countries of the world have been involved in research and other scientific work. Similarly, there is no shortage of scientists in Nepal. The research of these Nepali scientists and the results obtained from them can be very important for the development of the country. However, so far, no initiative has been taken by the Government of Nepal on such a serious issue.

In this connection, the brain pooling program will be continued in Nepal. The Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has given continuity to the brain pooling program. The Academy also conducted the program in 2020. At that time, some Nepali scientists working at home and abroad had participated. Despite the small number of applications in the program conducted in the past years, after seeing the effectiveness, the foundation has decided to continue this year as well.

In the year 2020, only two scientists participated as NAST Eminent Fellows.

The information has been made public for this by inviting proposals for the brain pooling program. Such programs are specifically targeted to scientists and technicians. The NAST has called for a result-oriented research proposal to be completed within a year. Such research can be done in a laboratory or other scientific body.

Arrangements have been made to provide grants to the research conducted in other bodies as per the proposal approved. It is also required to submit a letter of intent for affiliation with NAST Eminent Fellow and NAST Associate Fellow. Such a program is targeted at Nepali citizens or non-resident Nepalis working at home and abroad.

NAST aims to collaborate on the basis of experience gained in the field of science and technology. The aim of such a program is to contribute in the field of science and technology. The goal is to associate people who have achieved success in the field of science and technology, even if they are under 40 years of age, as Associate Fellows.

The researchers will be able to choose the subject themselves and the will be provided up to Rs. 500,000. It has been stated that if the amount is deemed insufficient, it can be increased after looking at the subject of research.

NAST has given priority to issues like information technology, energy and smart city. Through this program, the goal is to create a database of Nepalis working in the field of science and technology.

Such a program is expected to encourage Nepalis working at home and abroad to conduct scientific research that is useful for the country.
