Chairperson of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal, Upendra Yadav, has raised concern over the Election Commission’s decision stating that the action that Yadav had taken against the other Chairperson Mahanta Thakur and three other lawmakers was unlawful. He mentioned that this decision has raised a question over whether the commission was acting in a transparent and unbiased manner.

Issuing a statement today, Yadav expressed his opposition to the decision stating that the Election Commission had violated and not taken into consideration the prevalent democratic practices of the country while taking its decision.

He also mentioned that the Election Commission, which is a constitutional body, should not be prejudiced while taking a decision on any matter. Yadav also stated that the commission had acted in favour of one faction and raised concern over its impartiality.

Yadav had forwarded a letter to the commission to make amends in its registration ledger as Thakur and senior leaders Rajendra Mahato, Laxman Lal Karna and Sarbendra Nath Shukla had been expelled by a majority of the members of the Working Committee of the party. However, the Election Commission had taken a decision that the expulsion of the abovementioned leaders was unlawful.

He further added that such decisions by the commission will give rise to indiscipline within political parties. Yadav mentioned that he would look for a political and legal solution to the decision made by the Election Commission.
