The second rung leaders of CPN UML, which is on the verge of breaking up due to the internal differences that have cropped up within the party, have started the exercise to unite the party. At present, they have been holding discussions to seek ways to create unity within the party.
After the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of the party approached the Supreme Court to file a writ against the dissolution of the House of Representatives even the taskforce has not held any meetings. The 10-member taskforce had been formed to hold talks and iron out the differences between Nepal and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chairperson of CPN UML.
Meanwhile, the Oli-led faction had decided to expel 11 members from the party including Nepal. It also has sought clarifications from 12 other lawmakers but has not received any response yet.
The second rung leaders are holding talks to sort out such issues and forge unity. In fact, they held a meeting on Monday too. They are also trying to get Oli and Nepal to restart their discussions so that the party can be united again.
