The meeting of the organising committee that has been formed for the general convention of CPN UML will take place on June 30. The decision to call the meeting of the organising committee for the 10th general convention of the party was taken by the Standing Committee meeting today.

Pradeep Gyawali, Spokesperson of CPN UML, mentioned that the Standing Committee had held discussions on the recent political developments. COVID-19 pandemic, and national political situation.

The faction led by senior party leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal had been asking for the meetings of the various committees to be called as per the structure of the party on May 16, 2018, for the unity of the party. However, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chairperson of the party, had ignored that call and called a meeting of the organising committee.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has also already given a verdict that the decisions taken by the organising committee will not be valid. The Standing Committee meeting today has also mentioned that the Supreme Court’s decision was flawed and a serious one.

Gyawali stated that the Supreme Court’s verdict was flawed and it an interference in the internal matters of the party. He said that the apex court’s decision issued on June 10 was flawed and the party had already lodged a vacate petition at the court.
