NC spokesperson Sharma to vie for General Secretary post

Nepali Congress Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma has announced his candidature for the post of General Secretary in the party's upcoming 14th General Convention. Speaking at a special program organised at the then Sundarijal Prison today on the occasion of the 108th birth anniversary of BP Koirala, the founder of the Nepali Congress and the first elected Prime Minister of the country, he said that he was going to stand for the post of General Secretary to fulfill BP's dream.

On the occasion, Sharma expressed his commitment to fulfilling BP's dream of becoming the party's general secretary and helping the party win all the three-tier elections. Spokesperson Sharma said that BP's dream could be fulfilled as the younger generation in the party is leading with energy. He said that the Congress would continue the tradition of BP Koirala respecting the field of journalism by managing a fixed budget for the media to cover the shortcomings of his two-thirds majority government.

Leader Sharma has announced his candidacy after reaching the current BP Museum at the then Sundarijal Prison where BP, Ganeshman, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, and other leaders were detained for a long time after the people's elected government was overthrown by the King. On the occasion, Congress Kathmandu Constituency No 3 President and Chief of Gokarneshwor Municipality Santosh Chalise, Museum Committee Chairman Parashuram Pokharel, and others expressed their commitment to contest and win leadership positions in the 14th General Convention to fulfill BP's dream.
