Kathmandu's security strategy has changed after the first national conference of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) was turned into a general convention.

Some security personnel have been added to the security plan prepared earlier and undercover security has been mobilized. According to the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Campus, the security strategy has been formulated to mobilize 364 police conferences under the leadership of the Superintendent of Police.

The inauguration of the General Convention to be held this afternoon is more focused. Security personnel have been deployed in the convention site and various areas of the valley since this morning. "The reserve force is also in a state of readiness with additional assistance. We have strengthened the security more than yesterday's plan after it was said to be held as a general convention," said Sudip Giri, senior superintendent of police.

Traffic management has also been arranged to reduce congestion. Strict security arrangements have been made in coordination with other security agencies and organizers, said SSP Giri. It was said that only the leaders of their own party who would not be the guests in the national conference would participate, but after the convention turned out, the guests have also been invited. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Sudhir Raj Shahi, who has been deployed for the security of the General Convention, the security modality has been changed as the main leaders of the Rashtriya Party, including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, are coming. The Chief District Officer and Senior Superintendent of Police will monitor from the command post.

The national conference of the Maoists was scheduled to start at 11 am. However, the program has been rescheduled for 3 p.m. According to the police, the security strategy has been made accordingly as other cadres will also attend the inauguration.

According to the police, about 4,000 to 5,000 people are expected to attend the convention. 1,533 delegates and other spontaneous cadres will also be able to participate as there is no obstruction. However, the capacity of Pragya Bhawan is 1,360. Arrangements have been made for others to sit on the grass and in other open areas of the building. There are screens and speakers, so people can sit outside.

Police said that three teams have been mobilized since this morning for the security of the convention and the remaining teams will be added shortly. According to the Metropolitan Traffic Police, a traffic safety plan has been formulated to manage the traffic according to the congestion situation. Special arrangements have been made especially for the vehicle routes around the conference venue.
