The Statute Convention of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) concluded in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

The three-day convention was held at the Nepal Academy, Kamaladi. A Statute Authentication Committee chaired by party chairperson Upendra Yadav was formed during the convention to authenticate the party's statute, said Purna Basnet, chief of the party's publicity department.

The statute would be given the final form by including the issues raised in the convention and the conclusion made by various 10 groups. The statute will come into effect after the Authentication Committee certifies it, it was said.

Issues such as the need to change the party's flag and not keeping the age limit of 70 years among others were raised in the convention, informed Basnet.

Meanwhile, the JSP has decided to move ahead considering the national committee based on identity as an organizational structure.

Concluding the convention, party chairperson Yadav said that the national committee would be made more powerful as the statute enhanced advocacy for the issue of identity.

Since the struggle for identity was still ongoing, the JSP decided to take the lead of that struggle and for that the national committee and province committee would be further made stronger, shared Basnet.

Stating that the convention had further energized the party, party chairperson Yadav instructed to take forward political activities of the party once the statute comes into effect.

Although there were 746 representatives in various committees and organizations of the statute convention, the convention saw participation of a total of 600 participants.
