The CPN-UML has sent a letter to 12 party lawmakers of the now-dissolved House of Representatives seeking clarifications from them within 24 hours. The Standing Committee meeting of the party held on May 24 had decided to expel 11 of its lawmakers from the party and seek clarifications from the remaining 12.

The 23 lawmakers had supported the opposition parties to form a new government.

Sher Bahadur Tamang, Secretary of the CPN-UML’s Central Office, informed that clarifications have been sought from 12 lawmakers. He also mentioned that since attempts to explain the party’s stand to them verbally had failed the party had decided to seek written clarifications.

The 12 lawmakers from whom the party has sought clarifications are Surendra Pandey, Birodh Khatiwada, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Ghanashyam Bhusal, Som Prasad Pandey, Krishna Lal Maharjan, Jhapat Rawal, Bhawani Prasad Khapung, Yagya Sunuwar, Metmani Chaudhary, Deepak Prakash Bhatta, and Narayan Khatiwada.

Meanwhile, the 11 lawmakers who have been dismissed from the general membership of the party are Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, Bhim Rawal, Kalyani Khadka, Sarala Yadav, Pushpa Karna, Laxmi Chaudhary, Mukunda Neupane, Ram Kumari Jhakri, Kalila Khatun, and Nira Devi Jairu.
