A meeting of the party’s office-bearers held at the party central office in Paris Danda on Monday took the decision.

“Today’s meeting was focused on the presidential election. A decision has been made to seek national consensus on the upcoming presidential election,” Maoist Centre’s spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara told the media.

Spokesperson Mahara also said that the Maoist Centre’s main goal is to complete the peace process by safeguarding the republic and constitution and added that maximum efforts would be taken for forging a national consensus on the presidential election.

According to Mahara, the CPN (Maoist Centre) meeting has entrusted the party chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal with the responsibility to take a final decision on the party’s steps regarding the presidential election.

Mahara stated that his party’s interest was to make the president on national consensus and that could be served from the (alliance) with the Nepali Congress and other parties as well.
