The ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) has proposed to advance the alliance between left and democratic forces until the upcoming elections.
Tabling the political proposal in the central committee meeting of the party that started on Saturday, party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal mentioned that the alliance was needed to safeguard the constitution, fight regression and address the country's burning issues.
"The party will have the policy to keep the current alliance intact until the upcoming election, which was formed to maintain economic prosperity, stability and good governance in the country by safeguarding the current democratic political system, constitution and nationality," the political document of Chairman Prachanda states.
Dahal has argued that the left-democratic alliance was formed in course of the struggle against regression and the alliance defeated the regressive force that hammered the federal democratic republic and constitution. "Those unhappy with the alliance are working hard to weaken and collapse it," according to the Maoist Centre Chairman.
Stating that the coalition government released its common minimum programme, Dahal laid emphasis on the successful implementation of the coalition government's minimum programmes.
The political proposal of Prachanda has emphasised COVID-19 control, economic recovery, the elevation of people's livelihood and promotion of good governance in the country.
He has also given special focus on making the government a success by making it pro-people.
Efforts would be made to resolve issues of MCC, Lipulek, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura through diplomatic talks as per the party’s declared policy, he said.
He stressed the need for doing the party’s organisational work in a way of making the party victorious at local level elections and establishing it as a leading force through coming federal and provincial elections.
Moreover, he proposed the convention of a party national conference for party’s ideology, political agendas and organisational structures and overall leadership development at various levels in a new political scenario.
Stating that party building is based on the Leninist theory of organization, the former Prime Minister said there is the need of the hour for the party to recruit thousands of cadres of all ages- youths, elderly and senior citizens, from among working-class and marginalised communities.
On the dissolution of the former Nepal Communist Party, he observed, “The party unification was right objectively. However, the party unification did not sustain due to KP Oli’s ego, arrogance and esurience for power.”
According to the time schedule proposed by Chairman Dahal, the national convention will be organised in the last week of December this year. The party is planning to hold a national conference as some then party leaders who now have joined CPN UML had challenged party’s legal status and had lodged applications at Election Commission and Supreme Court demanding to scrap the party.
According to Dahal’s proposal, the conference will begin on December 26 this year. For this purpose, the party will launch a campaign to renew and update party membership by Mid-September.
Similarly, it has proposed to call village assembly on September 26, ward assembly on October 6 and rural municipality assembly on October 16.
The district convention will be held on November 16 while the province convention on December 1.
According to party Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, different eight groups were formed to hold discussions on Chairman Prachanda’s statute amendment proposal including political and organizational proposals.
The CC members are asked to give suggestions on the proposals by11:00 am Sunday. The meeting will pass the proposals after incorporating suggestions received from the CC members. Chairman Dahal also briefed the meeting about the latest political developments in the meeting. The CC meeting will be held again at 11:00 am Sunday.
