Counting of votes in Pokhara in the final stage

The counting of votes of Pokhara Metropolitan City has reached the final stage under the local level member election-2022. A total of one lakh 43 thousand 226 votes have been cast in the counting that started on May 14. One lakh 25 thousand 520 votes have been counted till 12:30 noon today.

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has stated that the final results of all the wards of Pokhara will be made public by tonight. In Pokhara, 17 thousand 706 votes remain to be counted. According to the Office of the Returning Officer, as per the latest details, Dhanraj Acharya of the ruling CPN (Unified Socialist) has secured a lead of 4,029 votes.

While Acharya got 50 thousand 612 votes, his nearest candidate Krishna Bahadur Thapa of CPN (UML) got 46 thousand 583 votes. As the count draws to a close, Acharya has widened the gap.

Shankar Kharal of RPP has polled 5,337 votes for the post of the metropolitan chief. Similarly, independent candidate Ganesh Poudel got 2,864 votes.

Similarly, CPN (UML) candidate Manju Devi Gurung has maintained her lead in the metropolitan constituency. While Gurung took the lead with 53,173 votes, his nearest candidate Kopila Ranabhat of the Nepali Congress has 49,586 votes. Coalition candidate Ranabhat is trailing by 3,587 votes.

 Ranabhat, who had been leading from the beginning of the counting, was overtaken by Gurung in the last round. Ranjana Sen of RPP has five thousand 318 votes in the Deputy Chief. In Pokhara, the final results of 25 wards have been made public so far. Out of 33 Wards of the metropolis, Nepali Congress has won in 18 Wards. CPN-UML has won seven Wards. Counting of votes in wards 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 31, 32 and 33 is underway.
