128 new cases of coronavirus reported on Saturday

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Saturday reported 128 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 277,768.

Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley has reported 69 new cases of coronavirus infection — 57 in Kathmandu, 10 in Lalitpur and two in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. 

As many as 161 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 273,123 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Saturday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.3 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.

The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,032 with one more death from COVID-19 reported in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 1,613 active cases in Nepal.

Earlier, the MoHP on Friday had reported 179 new cases of coronavirus that had taken nationwide tally to 277,640.

More than 130.24 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,976,882 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:01 pm on Saturday, April 3, 2021.

The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
