India's COVID-19 tally rises to 33,624,419

India's COVID-19 tally rose to 33,624,419 on Saturday as 29,616 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry's latest data.

Besides, as many as 290 deaths due to the pandemic since Friday morning took the death toll to 446,658.

Most of the new cases and deaths were reported from the southern state of Kerala.

There are still 301,442 active COVID-19 cases in the country with a rise of 1,280 active cases during the past 24 hours. This is the first time in several days that the number of active cases rose in the country.

A total of 32,876,319 people have been successfully cured and discharged from hospitals so far, out of which 28,046 were discharged during the past 24 hours.
