A procession was organised at Lisbon of Portugal on the occasion of 567th Buddha Jayanti. The procession was organised at Lisbon city at the coordination of Nepalese Honorary Consulate in Lisbon with the support of Nepali organisations in Portugal on Friday.
Those participating in the procession passed through the main tourism areas of the capital city carrying pictures of Buddha, playing cards with Buddha's teachings, and the national flag of Nepal. The rally started from Praca Do Comercio with the participation of Nepali community members in Portugal, Buddhist religious teachers, national and foreign Buddhist followers.
At a gathering organised at Martim Muniz after the procession, Buddhist preacher Girme Lama gave a brief discourse about Buddha, his knowledge, philosophy and teachings.
On the occasion, Coordinator of Buddha Jayanti Main Ceremony Committee and Honorary Consul General of Nepal for Portugal, Makar Bahadur Hamal, said teachings of Buddha should be followed.
Former President of Non-Resident Nepali Association of Portugal, Ramesh Kumar Gurung, Chairperson of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities, Portugal, Hem Gurung, among others expressed their views.
