Brazil reports 1,480 more deaths from COVID-19

Brazil registered 1,480 deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 354,617, the country's ministry of health reported on Monday.

The ministry also said that another 35,785 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the nationwide count to 13,517,808.

The state of Sao Paulo, the most populous in Brazil, has been the most affected by the pandemic, with 2,648,844 cases and 83,098 deaths.

Brazil has been experiencing a new wave of cases since January, and many states in the country have reported overloading of their healthcare systems. Brazil started its vaccination process in mid-January and has so far inoculated 23,286,249 people with one dose and 7,052,402 with two, according to official data compiled by the local press.
