Well-known Nepali artist Samir Shrestha has recently released his latest song ‘Thamana haat’. The very song, which is close to his heart, is about a person’s feelings towards their loved ones who don’t give up on them no matter what the situation is. He leaves the rest for the audience to decide.

The 19-year old artist started singing from his childhood days but got involved in music seriously after completing his schooling. Following this, he got positive feedback from his friends and relatives, which made him pursue music more.

Shrestha used to chant Bipul Chettri’s songs like ‘Ram Sailee’ and ‘Ashar’, along with other singers like Swoopna Suman, Sajan Raj Vaidya, and Sushant KC songs. Sajjan Raj Vaidya was an idol for him and inspired him to follow his singing dream.

He says, “As I used to sing since my childhood, my parents were used to it. But when my friends heard me singing, they couldn’t believe it. Whenever my songs are played in a cafe or restaurant, they call me excitedly saying, your song was played in this and that place.”

“As an artist, it’s kind of difficult to start your singing career. At first, I was lost in thoughts about where to record my new songs. Finding a good studio and good financial support was difficult”, he explains. Though he knew his family was there to support him, he wanted to do it on his own. The artist started uploading a raw version on a youtube channel and the rest is history.

He is currently working on his next release, singles, and also collaborating with other artists. “I will do my best to not let my listeners' expectations down” Shrestha has recently learned to play guitar and is planning to learn keyboard and other musical instruments.

“Honestly, I never thought I'd make my way in the Nepali music industry, let alone give an interview as an artist. So, if you give up already then you might not get a chance to explore the beautiful tomorrow.”

According to Shrestha, many artists face financial problems and a proper studio is difficult to find. Besides all these facts, the one who’s struggling as an artist, says, “Do not let the setbacks stop you from pursuing your dream. You never know what will happen in the future”.He adds further, “Those who think there is no scope in the Nepali music industry, there is scope. Just be yourself and keep on making your own original pieces.”
