US Parliamentary delegation meets Prime Minister Deuba

A meeting has been held between Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and a US parliamentary delegation

On Saturday, a United States (US) parliamentary delegation led by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand reached the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar and met Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Deuba tweeted that he was happy to welcome the US parliamentary team.

It is mentioned in the tweet that views were exchanged on the relations between Nepal and the United States during the meeting.

"The two sides exchanged views on ways to enhance Nepal-US friendship and a multifaceted partnership involving the government, parliament and the general public," he said on Twitter. "Global issues such as climate change were also discussed."

A team of four US senators and one lawmaker arrived in Kathmandu on Friday evening.

Along with Gillibrand, the team includes Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (Rhode Island), Corey Booker (New Jersey), Mark Kelly (Arizona) and Member of the House Mondaire Jones (17th Congressional District, New York).

The team had met Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka on Saturday morning.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they discussed issues related to cooperation in various fields including economic development.

Similarly, views were also exchanged in areas of common interest at bilateral and multilateral levels.

The US team is scheduled to return on Sunday.
