Suryabinayak-8 Ward Chairman donates 5 years of salary to schools

Kiran Thapa Magar, Ward Chairperson of Suryabinayak Municipality-8, has provided all of his salary, allowances and remuneration received during the five-year tenure to educate poor and deserving children.

He has handed over Rs 1.5 million as a five-year salary allowance to the Jagat Bhairav ​​Pratishthan established for the purpose of providing scholarships to the poor and deserving students and providing educational materials to the children who cannot afford copies, pens, and books.

Ward Chairman Thapa Magar said, "I have handed over the entire salary and allowance. You should not be deprived of education without educational materials.”

The Suryabinayak Municipality had been providing a vehicle (motorcycle), petrol, and meeting allowance to the ward chairman. Stating that he has not taken any facility from the municipality, he said, "After I became the ward chairman, I did not take the vehicle provided by the municipality. I did not take a single rupee of oil from the municipality. I have handed over the money to the Retirement Fund to spend on the education of poor students.”

He said that the fund was set up to provide access to education to the poor and deserving students coming to the school. CPN-UML Politburo Member and Member of Parliament Mahesh Basnet has announced to provide one month's salary for the fund.

Similarly, Nick Bhujikik Housing Pvt. Ltd. has contributed Rs 1 million, Xyamo Ghyang Housing Pvt. has donated Rs 1 million, and Dwarika Satyal, foundation's president, donated Rs 100,000. He said that the aim of the foundation established by Ward Chairman Thapa Magar in the name of his late grandfather Jagat and father Bhairav ​​Thapa Magar is to raise Rs 10 million.
