Former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane received the certificate of Nepalese citizenship today. He received the citizenship from District Administration Office in Kathmandu.
He was sitting in line to get citizenship at the office in Babarmahal. When he reached the Kathmandu district administration office, there was a crowd of journalists.
The Nepali citizenship that he obtained earlier ended after he obtained US citizenship.
When he came back to Nepal and gave up his American citizenship, he was also dismissed as a member of the House of Representatives because he did not submit the proof to the district administration office.
Lamichhane re-acquired citizenship after the decision of the Supreme Court in the citizenship case said that he can re-acquire citizenship.
He had resigned from the post of Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister over the issue of citizenship.
