Pathao, a ride-hailing service provider company in Kathmandu, has resumed its service from Wednesday evening after suspending its riding services for over 24 hours.
Social media, Twitter was trending with the hashtag #IamWithPathao, through which the riders or the consumers expressed solidarity with Pathao and criticised the taxi drivers comparing their poor and expensive services with Pathao. There was even rumour that some taxi drivers had beaten up Pathao rider following which the ride-sharing company had disrupted its service.
However, Senior Executive officer at Pathao Pvt Ltd, Saran Gurung, told NepalNews that some of its services had to be suspended temporarily after the company faced a technical glitch. Gurung said the Pathao has already resumed its services from this evening.
In the press statement issued by Pathao on Tuesday, it said that the riding service was suspended to discourage the offline ride after holding a discussion with authorities. The riders offering the riding services were directed to not use the Pathao uniform or any other logos till further notice. The company had even warned to take action against the service providers who were found using the company logo or uniform including jacket and trouser during the period.
Meanwhile, Gurung has assured that the company would continue offering its services to the Pathao riders and passengers.
