Pashupatinath to open doors after five months

Preparations are underway to reopen the Pashupatinath temple, which has been closed for five months. It is said that preparations have been made to open the temple around Teej.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and the District Administration Office, Kathmandu have also been consulted to open the temple, said Revathiraman Adhikari, administrative officer of the Pashupati Area Development Fund. The main temple of Pashupatinath, Devalaya Shivalaya and Shakti Peetha including Guhyeshwari were closed for devotees from the first week of April 2021 due to COVID-19 surge.

As the risk of corona is decreasing, preparations have been made to open the temple. He also said that today's internal meeting of the fund will decide to open the temple before or after Teej.

Along with Pashupatinath, temples including Guhyeshwari and other temples are also closed. Dr Ghanshyam Khatiwada, executive director of the fund, said that preparations have been made to open these temples along with Pashupati.

"Pashupatinath area is being opened by maintaining physical distance and adopting health security standards. Devotees entering the Pashupatinath area after the opening of the temple will be required to wear a mask. Sanitizers will also be provided." he added

Pashupatinath temple was closed to devotees after the COVID surge.  And now the temple will open it's door again  to devotees only from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm.
