PAC directs government to make arrangements for issuing bill and invoice

The Public Account Committee (PAC) of the Federal Parliament has issued directive to the government to make arrangement for every shop keeping the price list and mandatorily issuing bill and invoice.

A meeting of the PAC held today also instructed the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies to make arrangements for opening fair-price shops at every local level. It has issued directive to the government to provide to the Committee within one month the progress report on whether or not the directives have been implemented.

PAC stated that it shall also carry out monitoring and evaluation whether the directives have been followed or not.

Likewise, the Committee has issued directive for establishing coordination with the bodies concerned to prevent and control the smuggling in of all goods including sugar through the open border.

PAC has issued directives to carry out and make others carry out the regular monitoring of the quality of goods and services as well as their market prices, to immediately take action against those carrying out illegal activities, to prevent the illegal capital flow while importing various goods and to monitor and prevent the under-invoicing while importing goods.

The parliamentary committee has also instructed the government to establish the necessary coordination for mandatorily operating at least one fair-price shop at every local level to provide relief to consumers from black marketeering, syndication and exorbitant price hike, and to set up a mechanism required for monitoring and evaluating the condition of service delivery by these shops.
