The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has continued administering the second dose of Vero Cell vaccines from today for people aged 55 years and above from booths set up in all 32 wards.

Chief of Department of Health in the KMC, Kari Bahadur Kunwar, said that those visiting their nearest vaccine booth will have to bring their vaccination card received while getting the first dose.

The beneficiary, aspiring to get the second dose of the vaccine manufactured in China, should also compulsorily bring the electronic registration number along with the vaccination card.

Moreover, there should be a minimum 21-day gap between the first and the second dose. Hence, the beneficiaries have been urged to get their second dose at least after 21 days.

All vaccine booths will remain open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and will operate through coming Sunday.

This time, the metropolis has set up vaccine booths in every ward to avert overcrowding as people's influx was higher in earlier limited designated vaccine booths.

Lack of social distancing among the beneficiaries had posed a great risk of the spread of COVID-19.

Earlier, the KMC had launched a vaccination drive for this targeted group from July 13 to 15 through 12 vaccine centres for the first dose of Vero Cell.

The COVID-19 caseload in KMC has reached 72,644. Among the infected ones, 68,771 have already enjoyed full recovery as of now while 510 succumbed to the deadly infection till date, according to Kunwar.

The number of active COVID-19 cases currently stands at 3,363, added Kunwar.
