Balendra Shah, the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has made it clear that vandalism of garbage collecting vehicles is a heinous crime, and the criminals must be punished according to the law. After vandalizing the vehicles and other equipment that were travelling to throw garbage on the hill, with the use of axes, compensation should be made from the vandals.
He said that he is coordinating with the agencies, regarding this matter.
He said that the waste of millions of citizens and 21 municipalities cannot be left unorganized and ineffective just for the benefit of some individuals or groups. He also appealed that, no one should try to obstruct the waste management under various pretexts.
