Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Vishwaraj Pokharel has gone to the Supreme Court against the appointment of the new Inspector General of Police. He has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court.
Another Additional Inspector General, Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, said that he was in legal consultation whether to take the writ or not.
A cabinet meeting on Sunday promoted AIG Dhiraj Pratap Singh to the post of Inspector General of Police. AIG Pokhrel, who is senior to Singh, has taken the writ petition to the apex court demanding to be made the inspector general, saying that he is ahead in seniority and performance appraisal.
