28 gamblers held with Rs 1.4m, cheques

Police today made public 28 persons arrested for gambling in a private residence in Bouddha, Kathmandu, on Tuesday night.

The arrestees were held along with cash Rs 1.4 million and cheques of different banks equivalent to Rs 180,000, on Tuesday night.

They were held from the residence of Wangchu Sherpa in Simaltar, Bouddha, according to spokesperson for the MPC, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramesh Kumar Basnet

Acting on the tip-off, a team deployed from Metropolitan Police Circle, Bouddha arrested them while they were staking the money on Tuesday night, SP Basnet said.

Further investigation into the incident is underway, Basnet added.
