The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry has submitted it suggestions for the Monetary Policy of next fiscal year 2078/79. The suggestions were submitted by a delegation of the FNCCI led by its President Shekhar Golchha to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari today.
The suggestions were prepared on the basis of the recommendations provided by members of FNCCI and also the National Economic Transformation, 2030, prepared by the federation. The FNCCI has suggested the central bank to continue with the policies that had been introduced to tackle the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the last fiscal year.
FNCCI has also urged Governor Adhikari to keep small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in priority in the Monetary Policy for next fiscal year. FNCCI President Golchha apprised the governor of the positive effects of the refinancing facility that had been provided to SMEs through the Monetary Policy of the current fiscal year.
Golchha also urged Governor Adhikari to introduce a facility to provide loans to SMEs that comprise 22 per cent of the country’s economy and to start-ups so as to promote entrepreneurship in Nepal. He also informed that the FNCCI was working on how such a facility could be introduced and will soon submit it to Nepal Rastra Bank.
Meanwhile, Governor Adhikari mentioned that he would go through the suggestions provided by FNCCI and will hold another round of discussions with the federation on how the suggestions could be implemented in a feasible manner.
