Nepal has started exporting up to 50 million rupees of electricity to India daily. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has started the export of electricity from Kaligandaki A Hydroelectric Power Station.
On Monday, Nepal will export 4.227 million units to India. The Kaligandaki Hydropower Project will export 138.83 MW per day, Devighat Hydropower Station 14.31 MW and Trishuli Hydropower Station 23.4 MW.
According to NEA, Nepal's electricity has fetched a maximum price of Rs 12 per unit. On an average, it is being exported at 12.84 Nepali rupees per unit, according to NEA.
In the energy exchange market of India, electricity is being auctioned in 96 blocks every 15 minutes. The Government of India is allowed to buy and sell in those blocks up to maximum prices.
Officials say that the NEA has got a good price as it can sell electricity at night. On Monday alone, a rate of 51.24 million for electricity has been approved.
Accordingly, it is seen that Nepal can sell more than 100 million worth of electricity daily in the rainy season.
